ADDRESS BY THE ANMC INTERIM PRESIDENT

At the 2nd African Nurses and Midwives Confederation (ANMC ) Conference held in Livingstone, Zambia, the interim President of the ANMC, Justus Cherop Kiplangat, emphasized the leadership role of nurses and midwives in education, practice, and regulation, and the need for innovations in the health space to ensure quality of care for communities on the continent.

He added that nurses and midwives must strive for excellence at all times and use their voices as vital tools in the race to attain Universal Health Coverage and the health-related Sustainable Development Goals.

He added that just as Victoria falls does not not seek permission to be magnificent, so are African Nurses and Midwives. We need no permission to lead, to innovate or to demand what our Communities deserve.

He indicated that the ANMC was moving forward with confidence, passion, and commitment in ensuring that the heart of African healthcare-that is, nurses and midwives at recognized, supported, and empowered.
